With the success of the Star Trek Series and The
Untouchables, Hollywood started to pump out television drama adaptations
with regularity in the late 90's and early 00's. The best of
these movie adaptations are
probably The Untouchables
(very good movie about Eliot Ness going after Al Capone), The Fugitive (thriller
with Harrison Ford), Mission: Impossible (good action movie from Tom Cruise, I really
liked this one, but many people didn't), and Charlies Angels. I'm
sure we can look for more of these types of movies to
come out over the years as Hollywood execs look for a built-in audience and
script writers get a case of writers block. The adaptations from dramas do
appear to have the best track record of any of the tv
genres.
